I found this interesting design of the driveway gate that needs little space for opening it. The swing gates need half the width to open as they are made of two equal sides that need to move out of the way either forward of backward. Cantilevel gates open similarly to regular doors so they need the whole width of the gate to move them out of the way either forward or backward. Sliding gates need a space to slide them on the side. They need least space to open compared to previous two. But if this is not possible, this lift-up overhead gate comes to the rescue.
I even found a company in Europe who makes something similar. https://www.avantgates.com/en/products/3-x-i-afl-c/. Based on this blog post, Japanese (I have found mine in Japan) have many like these https://hereandtherejapan.blogspot.com/2007/05/driveway-gate.html.
