{"id":466,"date":"2020-02-16T19:24:02","date_gmt":"2020-02-16T19:24:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/?p=466"},"modified":"2021-11-18T18:34:18","modified_gmt":"2021-11-18T18:34:18","slug":"ford-galaxy-mk3-2009-dashboard-cluster-removal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/?p=466","title":{"rendered":"Ford Galaxy Mk3 2009 dashboard cluster removal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The digital display on my Ford Galaxy 2009 (Mk3) stopped working (nothing, half screen, stripes, you name it) so I had to replace the cluster (rather than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7N6dOi0Q3Do\">repair it<\/a> for which I don&#8217;t have time).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was searching all over the web on how to remove the cluster\/dashboard. While all the instructions were super simple (e.g. for Ford Mondeo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fordmpv.com\/smf2\/mk3-ford-galaxy-ford-s-max\/ford-galaxy-2009-dashboard-lcd-malfunction\/\">https:\/\/www.fordmpv.com\/smf2\/mk3-ford-galaxy-ford-s-max\/ford-galaxy-2009-dashboard-lcd-malfunction\/<\/a>) this is not the case with Ford Galaxy Mk3. So I decided to create these instructions while assembling everything back together. Someone might find them handy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Unplug the two plastic plugs and take off the plastic cover from bottom of the console in the middle <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d7f784c8f.jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Unscrew the screw of the second cover of the console in the middle <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d7f851f4c.jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Take off the plastic cover <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d7f9180da.jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Take off the plastic cover on the side of the door <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d7f9aff11.jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Unscrew the screws on the plastic cover that covers everything under the steering wheel <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d7fa5f8b5.jpg\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d7fb3a8d7.jpg\"><br><br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d7fbef522.jpg\"><br><br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d7fd6ca7c.jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Unscrew three bolts on the bottom of the same plastic <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d7fe15aa7.jpg\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d7feb1ceb.jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. Unplug the two rubber plugs <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d7ff6d6d5.jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. Unscrew the screw under the cover of the diagnostics socket <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d80012ccf.jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. When the plastic cover under the steering wheel is removed (be careful of the airbag cable) you&#8217;ll have the access to two screws (each on one side of the steering wheel) of the top part of steering column plastic cover <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d800a83f2.jpg\"><br><br><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d801bd38e.jpg\">   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. Pull  the steering wheel out and down as much as possible   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11. Pull out the steering column plastic cover (there are two clips each on one side of the steering wheel) and leave it on the steering column. The cover is connected to steering column by a piece of fabric. Do not tear it apart. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d802e754a.jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12. Remove two screws (one on each side of the cluster). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d803ae484.jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>13. Pull slightly the instrument cluster toward yourself and using a screw driver release a metal retaining piece before pulling the cluster totally out. Do not yank the cluster out as you will most likely break off this metal piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pim.famnit.upr.si\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/img_6194d804521a9.jpg\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14.
