I know why is this possible and that <strong>this is not as easy to do in other major OSes<\/strong> (OS X and Windows). Although <strong>appstores will make a step in this direction<\/strong> (but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/blog\/burnette\/microsoft-bans-free-software-on-windows-phone-7-updated\/2204\">unfortunatelly OSS is unwelcome in some<\/a>). At the moment I&#8217;ll still use <a href=\"http:\/\/metaquark.de\/appfresh\/\">AppFresh<\/a> (still beta) on my OS X. It looks up web pages like <a href=\"http:\/\/osx.iusethis.com\/\">IUseThis<\/a> and checks if software got updated. It&#8217;s not as smooth as on Linux, but it&#8217;s a step forward. <\/p>\n<p>Edit 14. 3. 2011: It seams that n<strong>either Apples&#8217;s AppStore&nbsp; nor Microsoft&#8217;s Windows Marketplace <a href=\"http:\/\/news.slashdot.org\/story\/11\/03\/12\/2348236\/Open-Source-Licensing-and-the-App-Store-Model\">are compatible with open source<\/a> licenses at the moment<\/strong> :(.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had a nice laugh reading this comic: Rat might love Linux for its updating features, but he would lose temper making some of the hardware work :).
